DroneLIONS Theory Course (STS-T)
What can I do after the course?
- Conduct flights in specific risk classes (STS-01/02) with C5/C6 drones.
- Understand flight weather reports (METAR, TAF) and aeronautical information (NOTAM).
- Professionally manage risks in drone operations.
- Obtain the EASA STS theory certificate and master more complex operations.
- Meet the requirements for a SORA operational authorization
Duration: 8 to 12 hours for the online course.

Certificate: EU Drone Pilot License STS-01/02
To qualify, you will need a valid proof of insurance, a current photo ID, and an A1/A3 competency certificate.
Holding an A2 remote pilot license is advantageous but not a must.

About the training
The DroneLIONS theory course is an online training program that provides all the theoretical knowledge required for the EASA STS theoretical certificate. With interactive texts, exercises and illustrations, the content can be worked through flexibly and at your own pace. Once preparation is complete, the exam can also be taken individually and without time pressure.
For whom?
The course is aimed at pilots who already hold the EU A2 remote pilot certificate and wish to conduct flights in higher risk categories (special category). To be permitted to actually fly under the standard scenarios STS-01/02 or the PDRA scenarios S01/02, practical certification is required in addition to the theoretical training. Practical training can be booked separately. This course covers all theoretical requirements of Regulation 2020/639, Annex A, Article 1B and prepares pilots comprehensively.
Examination
The course concludes with an online examination consisting of 60 multiple-choice questions. To pass, at least 75% of the questions must be answered correctly.
Examination details:
Examination can be taken at any time.
Two retake attempts are included in the price.
Upon passing, the EASA STS Theoretical Certificate is issued.
Certificates
After successfully completing the exam, participants receive the EASA STS theory certificate. This theoretical certificate is a prerequisite for flying under STS-01/02 or PDRA-S01/02. For practical/operational use, an additional practical certificate must be obtained.
